Es ist der Beginn der Pandemie und Victor ist in seinem Haus eingeschlossen, wohl wissend, dass eine Corona-Infektion ihn mit Sicherheit ins Grab bringen würde. Nachdem er im letzten Jahr 150.000 Meilen gereist ist, ist er schließlich gezwungen, langsamer zu werden - anzuhalten - und mit Hilfe seiner Maschine zu atmen. Angst, Verwirrung und Ungläubigkeit überwältigen ihn, als er sich mit seinem neuen Status konfrontiert sieht: Er ist nun in der «Hochrisikogruppe». Und so setzt er seine innere Erkundung fort, um die Frage zu beantworten, «Was macht mein Leben lebenswert?»

Wir werden in die surrealen Bilder von Victor beim Burning Man zurückversetzt, wo er im Hochsommer den brutalen Bedingungen der Wüste von Nevada trotzt. Wir sehen Victor zu Hause, wie er sich um seine Großmutter kümmert und die Geburt seines zweiten Enkelkindes feiert. Wir sehen ihn, wie er über die Hindernisse in Indien spricht, wie Hygiene, Unzugänglichkeit und Luftqualität. Mit jedem Schritt beginnt er, sich selbst zu begegnen. Und doch sind die Antworten immer noch schwer fassbar. Er verliert sich immer mehr, ohne eine Atempause oder Licht zu finden. Am Ende kehrt er mit mehr Fragen als Antworten aus Indien zurück. Erst jetzt, als er während des Lockdowns seinen eigenen Garten pflegt, entdeckt er die Schätze des Lebens und beginnt, den Sinn zu finden, den er auf der ganzen Welt gesucht hat.

It is the onset of COVID and Victor is locked in his house during a shelter in place order, acutely aware that contracting COVID would surely lead him to his grave. After traveling 150,000 miles last year, he is finally forced to slow down - to stop- and with the help of his machine, breathe. Anxiety, confusion and disbelief overcome him as he confronts his new status, living with the “highest-risk” of death. And thus continues an inner exploration to answer the question, “What makes my life worth living?”

We are transported back to the surreal images of Victor at Burning Man, braving the brutal conditions of the Nevada Desert at the height of summer. We see Victor at home, caring for his grandmother, celebrating the birth of his second grandchild. We see him as he talks about the obstacles in India, like hygiene, inaccessibility, and air quality.
Immediately, with each step, he begins to encounter himself. And yet, still the answers are elusive. He is going deeper into the black hole without finding respite or light. In the end, he returns from India with more questions than answers. It is only now, as he grows his own garden during the lockdown, that he discovers life’s treasures, and begins to find the meaning he had searched the world over.
