THE DISSIDENT by director and Oscar winner Bryan Fogel (IKARUS) is a documentary thriller that reaches into the highest spheres of power to uncover the labyrinth of cover-ups surrounding the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul. The film features extensive, previously unreleased video footage and interviews with people closely connected to the Khashoggi case, including his fiancée Hatice Cengiz, Turkish police officers and prosecutors, and the young Saudi dissident with whom Khashoggi worked. THE DISSIDENT is a film about the excesses of profiteering, tyranny and technology. All traces lead directly to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who did everything he could to cover up the crime on an international level. At the centre of the film is Khashoggi himself, the ambitious reformer who campaigned for a fairer and more open society in his home country of Saudi Arabia.
