The already well-known, outstanding piano world star Iiro Rantala performs together with the Galatea Quartet.
Iiro Rantala is not only a world-famous and courting jazz pianist in various formations, but has also made a name for himself as a classical keyboard artist, among others with a collaboration with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen or the Galatea Quartet. Light-footed, he changes from the classical score to his own composition, changes to an interpretation of a Piazzolla theme, scatters further classical quotations in his improvisation, in order to skilfully and almost unnoticedly find his way back into Mozart's Piano Concerto with the orchestra.
Solo and in trio he has already given ravishing concerts in Klosters and on the TASTENTAGEN.
At the centre of the concert is an arrangement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major for solo piano and orchestra, in which Iiro Rantala improvises the cadenzas. Then a work for orchestra by Johann S. Bach will also be performed.
The programme also includes compositions by Iiro Rantala, arranged especially for this project. Finally, there will be works by Astor Piazzolla: Adios Nonio, Milonga del Angel for orchestra.
A treat for lovers of classical music as well as for friends of a "liberated" jazz piano.
