Marlis Spielmann lives and works as an artist in Thalwil, Erlenbach and Klosters.
Since studying art, the multiple award-winning artist has exhibited at art fairs, international galleries and museums. She recently won the Forum Prize of the Bickel Museum in Eastern Switzerland. Currently, her large-format silhouettes can be seen in the Kunst(Zeug)Haus Rapperswil-Jona.
Marlis Spielmann has been working with the technique of traditional silhouettes for many years. The result is not folkloric depictions in black and white, but scenes from everyday life. The striving for a festive contemplativeness, as it was taught in the 19th century at a "silhouette school for ladies" in Biel, is far from her mind. On the contrary, her work is a reference to feminism and equality. She shows the MeToo debate with sharpness and at the same time a wink. For example, cut-out and individually painted multiples of ornamental female rounds are called "The stag dreams...".
